CASA LOPEZ X MARIA DE LA ORDEN

For the first creative collaboration between Casa Lopez and Maria de La Orden

The collaboration between Pierre Sauvage and Maria de La Orden was an obvious choice.

Pierre is Spanish through his grandmother, and Maria de La Orden is Spanish by birth. A Latin connection with a joyful and colorful influence that they express through their respective collections. With his Mediterranean- and often Hispanic-inspired furniture and objects, Pierre successfully established Casa Lopez as a key player in a subtle and elegant lifestyle, suitable for both city and country, indoors and outdoors, and that never takes itself too seriously.

As for the young and pretty Madrilenian stylist, she too has become, in record time, the symbol of a fashion that re-establishes the idea of confident chic, one that flatters women by twisting classics with a touch of quirky fantasy to better place them in the modern era.

"The choice of Vichy fabric as a link between our two brands, one specializing in lifestyle and the other in ready-to-wear, naturally came to us. This checked cotton fabric was born in France under Napoleon III, in the eponymous city. It was first used for tablecloths and napkins before the iconic BB adopted it and made Vichy a clothing emblem," explains Pierre Sauvage, founder and artistic director of Casa Lopez.

Having agreed on an orange Pantone, a warm and lively hue, synonymous with sharing and altruism, and a color as striking as the style of both houses, everyone set to work with their fabric as a meeting point for creative proposals, produced in limited editions.

Pierre Sauvage to imagine Vichy placemats with 18th-century inspired cutouts, edged with plain piping with their matching napkins, as well as pleated lampshades; Maria de La Orden to compose a wardrobe including a bow-neck blouse, a midi dress with balloon sleeves, slightly flared trousers, and an oversized headband...

The desire of both brands was then to offer a total look – combining lifestyle and ready-to-wear – through a series of images evoking the freshness and elegance of large summer tables.

Since the lampshade required a base, Pierre Sauvage chose the double-handled amphora from his collections.

"And the glazed orange terra cotta was so beautiful and luminous that I quickly felt the urge to go further and offer some of the house's iconic pieces in this vivid, warm, and appetizing color, in a limited edition."

This capsule collection thus features blown glass water glasses, vases with curled spouts, pomegranates, and in the tableware series adorned with the famous hand-painted bird-in-vegetal-interlace motif on a cream background, there are plates, small and large, dishes, goblets, and a glazed terra cotta pitcher.

As summer holidays approach, these pieces appear as many gift ideas to treat oneself or others, to add a vibrant touch to a room, a table, or a terrace.
